ORAL APPLIANCES
resolve snoring, once and for all...
New practice parameters published in 2006 by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine in the medical journal Sleep recommend oral appliances as a first-line treatment for snoring and mild-moderate obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).
SleepNZ are proud to provide Somnoguard Oral Appliances for treating New Zealanders who would otherwise snore.
Who will benefit from using an Oral Appliance?
If your practitioner has ruled out significant apnea or you have mild to moderate OSA as seen by overnight sleep study but you feel that your snoring is disturbing your sleep, then an oral appliance is often the answer you need. The appliance is similar to a mouthguard except that it is designed to be worn at night-time. The oral appliance gently holds your lower jaw forward. This helps open up the upper airway, tighten the oropharynx and pull the tongue base forward in a multiple action to prevent snoring.
Our Oral Appliances are available without the need of a prescription, but you should consult your Dentist and have your dental health checked before making the decision to try an Oral Appliance. Full dentition (all your own teeth) is required for using an Oral Appliance
We recommend the comfort and ease of using a Somnoguard Oral Appliance to prevent snoring. SleepNZ has 8 years experience in fitting Oral Appliances for snorers in New Zealand.
