CORRECT USE OF Oral Appliances:
-The use of an Oral Appliance usually requires good nasal air entry and a complete dental status
-It is important that prior to treatment with an Oral Appliance that the patient considers the likelihood of moderate to severe sleep apnea seriously. Information on sleep apnea is available on this website.
-If significant sleep apnea is supected, a proper diagnosis should be made by an overnight sleep study, that will differentiate habitual snoring and mild Obstructive Sleep Apnea from moderate or severe Sleep Apnea.
-In addition if an Oral Appliance does not prevent snoring then an overnight sleep study to identify sleep apnea is advised.
